Empowering Africa’s Next Generation of City Builders: Admissions Now Open at the Africa Urban Lab – Zanzibar
Africa’s cities are growing faster than almost anywhere else on Earth. But are we preparing enough skilled professionals to shape this transformation?
That’s the challenge the Africa Urban Lab (AUL) is tackling head-on. Located in Zanzibar and affiliated with the African School of Economics, AUL is now accepting applications for its 2025–2026 Professional Diploma in Urban Development — a unique blend of cutting-edge research, real-world application, and immersive education.
Why apply?
The diploma is designed for early- and mid-career professionals with a passion for shaping African cities. Participants will explore modules in Urban Economics, Planning, Finance, and Governance. The program culminates in a five-month Capstone Project, placing participants within real organizations across Africa to solve real urban challenges.
Scholarships are available, including options that fully cover tuition, travel, and accommodation for top candidates across the continent and the East African region.
Applications are due August 1st, 2025.
Courses begin in November 2025. All modules are taught in person in Zanzibar.
